Veteran Mental Health Awareness Ruck
About this Event
π² Suicide Awareness Hike in Honor of Veterans
Join a meaningful walk at Guadalupe County State Natural Area to honor those lost to suicide and support veterans and service members still struggling after their service. Participants can choose from three suggested trails and complete as many laps as they feel comfortable with, hiking weighted (rucking) or unweighted.
β¨ Community Support & Healing in Nature
This inclusive event welcomes all ages (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and encourages participants to bring flags or wear military memorabilia if they wish. Rucking is optional; those who choose to ruck with non-perishable food items can donate them at the end of the event to Good Samaritan Ministries Brownwood to help support homeless individuals in the community. In 2024, nearly 33,000 veterans were unhoused nationwide.
Volunteers from mental health organizations will staff water and information stations along the trails. The hike offers a powerful opportunity to come together in nature for remembrance, awareness, and hope.
