About this Event

🌿 Guided Exploration Hike: New Property at Lake Brownwood State Park

Join Ranger George for an exciting opportunity to explore the newest addition to Lake Brownwood State Park! This special guided hike lets visitors discover fresh trails and landscapes while learning about the area's rich flora and fauna. Participants will contribute to an ongoing iNaturalist project by cataloging observations, helping biologists and conservation efforts track wildlife, plants, fungi, and more.

πŸ“± Hands-On Learning & Citizen Science Adventure

Hosted by Lake Brownwood State Park, this reservation-only hike starts at Park Headquarters, where Ranger George will lead the group to the new property. If you're new to iNaturalist or its sister app Seek, he'll guide you through setup and usage, perfect tools for identifying organisms worldwide. Even experienced observers can make valuable contributions. No pets allowed due to sensitive natural and cultural resources.

🎟️ Reservation & What to Bring

This program is free with standard park entrance ($5 per adult 13+, children 12 and under free), but reservations are required - call the park office at (325) 784-5223 to secure your spot today! Meet at Park Headquarters and carpool/follow Ranger George to the site.

  • Optional: Other ID apps like Merlin
